EVIL CUSTOMS
MUHAMMAD (pbuh) was not an easy mixer. Deep thinking had become a
habit with him.
One day he heard that a certain chief had buried his daughter alive.
He was deeply moved. He talked about it to his wife and uncle, “How
cruel these people are!” he said, “is there no way to
save these little lives?” but every one was helpless, for such
were the customs of the land.
For one year Muhammad (pbuh) devoted himself to preaching against
this inhuman practice. He approached all the big chiefs and succeeded
in wining them over. They all admitted that “burying their daughters
alive was an evil custom.”
